Welcome to Vivid Creations.
When I was a little girl, I did not like my name. “Why couldn’t you name me Kim or Susie?” I would ask my mom. “Because you are not a Kim. Or a Susie,” She answered. “You are Vivian.”
I didn’t get it then. But I do now. My name is of Latin origin meaning “lively.” In Malory's "Morte d'Arthur,” Vivian was the Lady of the Lake and also Merlin's enchantress. That is pretty cool. I now live in the heart of Minnesota lake country and as for Merlin, well, I believe in magical experiences.
I have been lucky enough to have a few different jobs — or careers — in my lifetime that have given me opportunities to meet people from all different walks of life from all over the world. Seriously, I have not traveled the world; I have just met wonderful people from all over the world. With each person I meet, I walk away with a little piece of them in my heart.
I have been a waitress, a secretary, a barn cleaner, a corporate event planner, a student, a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a princess (not really, but I have a tiara!), a public relations rep., a veterinary technician, a salesperson, a writer, a journalist and a photographer. Every job I have had has been the best job in the world at that very moment. I put my heart, soul and passion into everything I do.
I like to tell stories and take pictures. One good photograph can do both.
People inspire me. Every face has a story. Whether that face is as smooth as a newborn baby, or weathered with age, every face is beautiful. Seeing the beauty and creating a memorable image or work of art is my goal, my passion.
My photography is an extension of me. I draw from all my life experiences to tell the story of the wedding day, a newborn baby, the baseball game, a graduation, and other life events. I also have a passion for the extreme. Whether it is snocross or dirt track racing, rock climbing or hot air ballooning, white-water kayaking or barefoot water skiing, if I can’t try it, I can at least photograph it.
I enjoy working in the controlled environment of my studio. There, I can create the right lighting. I can have the right amount of wind, the temperature is always just right and it is private. But I also enjoy the freedom and spontaneity of on-location and outdoor shoots. Whatever kind of story you want to tell, I will help create a lasting memory for years to come.
My studio is located just south of Garrison with Mille Lacs Lake right outside my front window and a beautiful wetland area out back. If you are ever in the neighborhood, stop in. I always have the coffee on or something cool in the refrigerator.
